Bsharre Federation Municipalities
Bcharreh District is one of the six districts in the North Lebanon Governorate, located on the western side of Jabal al-Makamel, which is the highest mountain in Lebanon. It is bordered by the districts of Zgharta and Minieh-Danniyeh from the north, from the east by the district of Baalbek, from the south by the district of Batroun, and from the west by the district of Koura. The district center is Bcharreh, the town that is surrounded by the oldest cedar forest in Lebanon and the world. It is distinguished by its picturesque landscapes, especially the Qadisha Valley, which contains the oldest monastery in Lebanon. Bsharri is considered an upscale tourist value, including hotels and rest houses, some of which reach the level of five stars, motels, bars, furnished apartments, and others. It includes several official institutions, including official departments, courts, security centers, a government hospital, and several centers for civil and charitable societies active on the social level, most notably a center for the Lebanese Red Cross and the headquarters of the Maronite Scout Association.
